Spin for your life (JK).

Skincare is super important when you start your journey into wearing makeup. If your skin isn't in the best condition then that will reflect in how your makeup applies to your face and how it looks. Skin is the foundation of makeup similarly to how you have a foundation of a house. You want the foundation of your house to be in the best shape and you should feel that way about your skin.

Developing a skin care regimen is key. Your skincare routine should be personalized to your own skin needs. What works for some people may not work for you. Skincare is all about trial and error. You may have to try a couple different things that work for you. Regardless of specific products, skincare regimens contain the same basic steps:

1. Cleanse

2. Tone

3. Mask

4. Tone

5. Serum

6. Moisturize

You could shorten these steps to cleanse, tone, and moisturize but if you're extra like me then that is not an option.

So once you've found your cleanser of choice, the decision now becomes how are you going to clean your face? You could use your dirty ass hands or you could invest in a facial cleansing brush. A facial cleansing brush is a small brush that spins, vibrates and/or rotates on your face to rid pores of dirt and impurities while tightening your skin. Using a facial cleansing brush directly impacts how your other skin care products penetrate your face. By using a facial cleansing brush instead of your fingers, you are able to penetrate your pores twice as much, therefore, allowing your toner, face mask, serum and moisturizer to access your pores more. You want to get the most out of these products because skin care products are not cheap (yes, even CeraVe & Cetaphil products are expensive for drugstore).

Facial cleansing brushes are available everywhere. You could purchase cheaper options at Target, Walmart, or your local pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens). There are also online retailers of facial cleansing brushes at Amazon, eBay, and Vanity Planet. There are also more expensive brushes made by Clarisonic, Clinique and Michael Todd Beauty. Personally, I am only familiar with Vanity Planet skin spa brushes. They have 3 different skin spa systems that include a two-speed facial cleaning brush with multiple brush heads for your face and body. I love Vanity Planet because they have discounts up to 70% off 24/7. I may have just graduated from college but I'm still cheap PERIOD.

I'm not going to bullshit you though, water can get into the battery compartment of these Vanity Planet facial cleansing brushes causing rust within the brush. These facial cleansing brushes may also stop working completely. Recently, I bought my second Vanity Planet brush (they typically last 8-9 months with regular use) and my exfoliating brush disintegrated on my damn face. I don't know if you would be alarmed but I was alarmed when I felt gotdamn goat hair all over my face. It was at this moment that I decided to seek other facial cleansing brush options. I did some research and consulted with my bank account on which fancy facial cleansing brush I could afford and settled for the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush with the original brush head.

The Clinique box contained the facial cleansing brush and a charger for the brush.

The box also contained a travel sized version of the popular Clinique Foaming Sonic Facial Soap and a free sample of the Clinique Moisture Surge . I also ordered the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.

I have been incorporating this new Clinique facial cleansing brush into my skincare regimen for about a work week (5 days) and the biggest thing I've noticed is that my skin is super soft. I expected this because the brush head that came with this brush is for everyday use. It's not an exfoliating or acne fighting brush head. I also want you to know that two giant pimples appeared on my skin. I didn't really sign up for that but alright. Comparing it to my Vanity Planet Skin Spa system, I do see a difference in my skin but I would not necessarily advise purchasing one brush over the other. I must make a note that the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel is BOMB. It makes my skin feel so soft and hydrated. I would highly recommend purchasing that if you have oily skin or an oily T-Zone area. If you have dry skin, purchase the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion! Overall, you should really focus on purchasing a facial cleansing brush that meets your skin needs and your wallet.
